Please make full use of them.About Infrastructure for CyclistsBlue LinesTo help guide cyclists clearly, blue lines have been painted on the road surface along the 28 routes of the Ehime Marugoto Cycling throughout the prefecture. These lines mark recommended cycling routes and include pictograms indicating distances and directions to destinations.Cycle OasisThere are more than 400 Cycle Oasis rest stops for cyclists across the prefecture. These facilities provide free services such as air pumps, water (including tap and drinking water), restrooms, benches (rest areas), and useful cycling information. They are identified by a tapestry displayed at each participating shop or facility.Bicycle Rental Facilities in the PrefectureThere are dozens of rental bicycle facilities throughout Ehime, offering road bikes, e-bikes, and cross bikes. Many are located within major train stations or roadside stations, and some are attached to cafés or accommodations. Even without bringing your own bicycle, you can enjoy a full-fledged cycling journey.Traveling with a Bicycle by TrainAs is common on railways in Japan, JR Shikoku and Iyotetsu Railway allow bicycles to be brought on board free of charge as luggage if they are disassembled and stored in a dedicated bicycle bag. JR Shikoku also operates “Cycle Pit” facilities where tools for disassembly and bicycle bags are available for rental (select Traveling with a Bicycle by FerrySurrounded by the sea, Ehime Prefecture commonly uses ferries as a means of transportation, and many routes allow bicycles to be loaded as they are.*Permissible bicycle sizes and conditions vary by operator. Please check each company’s official website or contact them in advance for details.・Orange Ferry(Toyo – Osaka) A ferry popular with cyclists from the Kansai region. In many cases, bicycles can be loaded without a bike bag (fees may apply, so please check). ・Setonaikai Kisen(Matsuyama – Hiroshima, Kure) Cruise ferries departing from Matsuyama Port allow bicycles to be loaded without disassembly on a first-come, first-served basis (fee required).・Geiyo Kisen(Imabari, Oshima, Hakatajima, Iwagijima, Sashima, Yugeshima, Ikinajima, Innoshima) Serving islands along the Shimanami Kaido and to Kamijima Town, which comprises 25 islands in the Seto Inland Sea. Bicycles may be brought on board without disassembly (fee required).・Uwajima-Unyu Ferry(Yawatahama – Oita / Usuki, Beppu) Connects Ehime and Oita Prefectures in approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Bicycles may be brought on board (fee required).・Omishima Blue Line Ferry(Imabari, Omishima, Okamurajima – Hiroshima / Osakikamijima) Connects Imabari Port with Omishima and Okamurajima in Ehime, and Osakikamijima in Hiroshima. Bicycles may be loaded without disassembly (fee required).Cycle TrainsCycle trains operate within Ehime Prefecture. While most trains in Japan require bicycles to be partially disassembled before boarding, cycle train services allow you to bring your bicycle on board without disassembly.
