HONOLULU CENTURY RIDE 2024
PHOTO ALBUM 🌈

Sunday, September 29, 6:22 AM. The temperature is around 23°C, with a wind speed of 7 km/h.
The Honolulu Century Ride has kicked off at sunrise again this year.
A scenic course that lets you fully experience Hawaii’s ocean and mountains, along with the great weather, all supported by cheerful and friendly volunteers and staff, making it a truly joyful event.

Around midday, just before the 160-mile turnaround point, a sudden downpour dampened spirits on the Kamehameha Highway, leaving the atmosphere a bit gloomy… However, some riders said that the Makapuu Point on the return route was stunningly beautiful after the rain had cleared.

We bring you a vibrant photo album capturing the breathtaking scenery and the radiant, triumphant figures of the riders from the 2024 event.

01 Start

The start gate opened at 5 AM. Riders steadily gathered in the dark, pre-dawn hours.
Are they regulars? A relaxed smile on their faces.
After opening ceremony, the gate opened at 6:22 AM! The front row was reserved for the VIP starters.

02 Diamond Head

First, riders ascended a gentle slope to reach the first lookout point, Diamond Head.
The ride was filled with the essence of Hawaii, as riders enjoyed the rising sun on their right-hand side in the early morning.

03 Kahala

On the morning of the event, a water main break occurred in this area, flooding the road. As a result, the course was changed at the last minute with a detour.

04 Kalanianaole HYW

Despite being a highway, one lane was closed off for the ride, making it comfortable for the cyclists.

05 Hawaiikai

This is the famous “Heartbreak Hill”! Approximately 1 km long with an elevation gain of about 60 meters.
Tandem! It’s a great sight!
Next, we arrive at the first aid station, Sandy AID, which is the turnaround point at 25 miles (40 km).

06 Makapuu

After replenishing with some nutrition, we head toward the second lookout point, Makapuu Point.
Surprisingly, They are climbing quite a bit!
And what a stunning view! Even after descending a bit, the view is still stunning. I can’t help but take pictures!

07 Waimanalo Beach

A duo full of energy right from the start! On the right is a beach that has once been ranked No. 1 for its beauty in the U.S.

08 Waimanalo Mountain

And now, we head toward the mountains. You can enjoy more than just the ocean on the Honolulu Century Ride!
Against the backdrop of rugged mountains that seem incompatible with the sparkling beach on the opposite side. A course that mountain lovers will be thrilled with!

09 Kailua AID Station / Turnaround point 1 at 50 miles (80 km)

Everyone is looking forward to the aid station where Matsumoto Shave Ice is being served!
You can trust that mechanical repairs are in good hands.

10 Kailua

This area is famous for being the location of former President Obama’s vacation home. The well-maintained roads make for a smooth ride.

11 Key Project AID / Turnaround point at 75 miles (120 km)

The third aid station was moved to a different location than last year.
Turnaround point for the 75-mile (120 km) course.

12 Kualoa

This year, many riders were caught in a downpour in this area.
An islet known as Chinaman’s Hat.

13 Swanzy beach AID / Finish line for the 50-mile (80 km) course and turnaround point for the 100-mile (160 km) course.

Heading to the turnaround point for the 100-mile course, where the volunteer staff welcomes us!
This year, many people had a slightly chilly break at the aid station due to the rainy weather.
Nice leg power!

14 And now, heading back!

The return journey begins. Riding along Kamehameha Highway, there aren’t many elevation changes, and on the way back, with the ocean on our left, it just feels great.
Passing through Waimanalo Mountain. The mountain slopes are vividly highlighted in this perfect weather.
Finally sunny at Waimanalo Beach on the return route!
Climbing Makapuu Point, which we sped past on the way out. Many riders are expressing that it’s surprisingly tough.
The downhill stretch after passing Makapuu Point, overlooking the city with the ocean in the background. About 20 km to the finish!
At the final aid station, JAIMS, riders enjoy their last taste of the famous peanut butter crackers.

15 Finish

And we have reached the finish!!!

Congratulations! 🌈

After finishing, riders relax in their own way at the goal in Kapiolani Park.
