TOUR DETSUMARI

TOUR DE TSUMARI is a cycling event through the grounds of an international art festival, set in a tranquil rice-growing region of terraced paddies and satoyama — Japan's traditional countryside landscape. Ride past artworks, architecture, and open scenery along the way. Founded by a cyclist and architect, the event itself also carries the character of an artwork on the theme of movement. At the aid stations, riders are served food made with local ingredients — onigiri, soba, pickles, and chilled watermelon. Mingling with local residents is very much part of the enjoyment.

Course

Three courses are available: Short (approx. 65 km), Middle (approx. 84 km), and Long (approx. 124 km). Riders travel through satoyama scenery, passing beautiful terraced rice fields and artworks along the route. Every course involves a fair amount of climbing, making this event a great choice for hill-climb lovers as well.
