“Shut Down the Manhattan Bridge!?”
A Report on Dominating and Riding Through the Five Boroughs of New York! (part 1)
FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR 2024 🇺🇸

An Extraordinary Experience: Racing Through Manhattan The “FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR,” commonly known as Bike New York, is held every May in New York City. It’s the largest event of its kind in the Northern Hemisphere, drawing cycling enthusiasts from around the world. About 30,000 people gathered with smiles on their faces, and of course, I was one of them. I wondered what kinds of bicycles everyone would be riding and what sights I would see as the morning of the event arrived. Around 5:30 a.m., in the dim light, I first rented a bicycle. Hoping the ride itself would eventually warm me up, I first headed to Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan to pick up my rental bike. As fierce sea winds swept through before sunrise, I cou […]

Experiencing a Cycling Culture Where Fun Rides and Racing Coexist

Held in Brisbane, in the eastern Australian state of Queensland, Tour de Brisbane 2026 goes well beyond the bounds of a typical mass-participation ride. Taking over the entire city, it’s an event of remarkable scale—where speed and cycling culture run side by side. The 2026 edition was held on April 12, drawing crowds of cyclists to the City Botanic Gardens from early morning. According to event organizers, participants came from 19 countries and regions, with around 7,000 riders in total—making it one of Australia’s largest urban gran fondos. A defining feature of this event is that it also serves as an official qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. The 110 km category is clearly d […]
