As 2025 is gradually drawing to a close, what kind of year has it been for you?
When it comes to riding, although temperatures heading into winter dropped more gently than usual, the summer was relentlessly hot, and many of you may have found fewer opportunities to ride. To get through Japan’s hot and humid summers, early-morning rides may be the key. The vibrant early-morning community rides I encountered in Australia felt like exactly the kind of cycling culture that could truly take root in Japan.

Now, to round out the year once again, we are pleased to present a photo album highlighting fan ride events from overseas. From the United States, we feature the HONOLULU CENTURY RIDE in Honolulu and TD Five Boro Bike Tour (BIKE NEW YORK) in New York. From Australia, we introduce the PORT DOUGLAS GRAN FONDO FESTIVAL (the ride event concluded in 2025) and the BRISBANE CYCLING FESTIVAL.
Please enjoy the courses and scenery that showcase the unique character of each event.

“Making Hawaii a Place Where Everyone Can Enjoy a Cycling Life”

On Sunday, September 29th, the 41st edition of the Honolulu Century Ride (HCR) came to a close. While chatting with many of the participating riders, the GR editorial team received this question from a few people: “What kind of organization is behind such an amazing ride event?” With that in mind, we conducted an interview with Travis Counsell, Executive Director of the organizing body, the Hawaii Bicycling League, and an avid cyclist himself. We also received a message from him for all participants, so please read on! GR Editorial Team (hereafter GR): Could you give us an overview of the event?
